Throughout Asian countries there is a rich 700-year history of using the delicate Japanese mandarin for a multitude of uses. It has been prized for its fragrant, sweet fruit and revered for the benefits derived from its peel. In traditional medicine, an extract was made from the peel and used to break up body congestion, clear the liver and ease abdominal pains. Chinese Empresses also used it for various skin conditions and to help smooth and gently brighten the skin.
